Self-Mastery (Part Two)
There is a gap between being a slave and being a master. That gap we call existential anxiety. If you want to be enlightened, you have to be willing to live there in that gap. That gap is the enlightenment process. It is the distance between what you think you are and what you are. You think you are an ego, but you are the Self. Awareness of this difference is existential anxiety. Until you embrace that gap, you will only experience symptomatic anxiety and its self-medicating behavior. Once you step out of that repetitious cycle, and into the gap, you begin to awaken. Anxiety is your friend. Anxiety prompts you to more awareness if you are listening. Anxiety tells you when you are playing slave again. Anxiety tells you that masterhood is calling you. The slave mentality wants to keep other people down so you don’t feel so bad and so alone. The master mentality is grateful for everyone’s advancement. As your team is lifted up, so are you.
In the gap, you will notice certain things. (1) You are making a fundamental change in perception. The old way is passing, something new is being born. (2) When an old pattern passes, and before the new can be born, there is a gap. There is a neutral place. There is what appears to be a void or a vacuum. (3) You can choose to be patient in that gap. You can choose to be expectant in that desert-like experience. You can choose to “wait upon the Lord” in that space.
That desert-like place is the place of unburdening, letting go of the old. Once you begin to unburden, you will rise. (4) You will notice that as this de-toxification takes place, you will rise. You will rise to a new level of vibration, a new frequency. Jung called it the journey of individuation. The scripture calls it the Promised Land. We are calling it masterhood. (6) In this new frequency, you will attract new people, new experiences. At each new level of mastership, you do not attract the same old samo. Like attracts like. Just let go of the old familiar frequency, and you will rise to a new level. St Paul spoke of the “seventh heaven” experience. The Buddhists say there are 33 levels. Who knows how many levels there are! But you are moving from slavery to mastery. Your Teacher is providing you with that uplifting energy, and you are learning new things every minute, every hour, every day. And your world is expanding at an unprecedented pace. Everyone that you forgive, you uplift, and everyone that you forgive and uplift, uplifts you.
In this self-mastery process you are un-learning and learning. You expect to live in the unknown, moment by moment. The unknown is your friend. When you flow with the process, you do not experience anxiety. When you resist the process, anxiety will arise. You don’t need to control this process. You don’t even know how to control it, and if you did you would make too many mistakes and get too anxious. Only the slave (ego) tries to control. Only the ego is that fearful. The master trusts and flows. If you are here to serve the planet, you don’t have to fear. Slaves don’t really serve, masters do. Slaves appear to serve, but it is not a loving service. It is a fearful service in which control issues cloud one’s perception.
