"I"
“I”
I have a ten acre home, property and business that is nicknamed “Greer” for the former owner. I have been preparing this property for sale for the past year. Selling Greer and waiting on the sale of Greer are both blessings. Greer is God’s, just like I am God’s, and I am learning more and more lessons about The Secret through this experience of selling the Greer property.
I praise God that Greer is sold (although I don’t know who the buyer will be) and that it has not yet been paid for. I praise God for the blessing of waiting. The lesson is that I am already rich and supremely blessed, whether I have been paid or not. My riches do not depend on the sale of Greer. My inner abundance manifests into form in many ways and in its own time.
I am supremely thankful for the knowledge of The Secret that is unfolding in my life and in the world. There is no greater gift and wealth than the gift of understanding because this awareness expands every day. The entire universe is mine to enjoy. Bill Gates is not that rich unless he too shares that awareness. Paul called it the “riches of Jesus Christ” awareness. I call it the secret knowledge of the infinite good. You may call it whatever your unique experience warrants.
Let’s don’t get hung up on semantics. We’ve been stuck in semantics for generations. The wrong use of words is all that causes our suffering. We have been the slaves of words and their incorrect meaning. Words and beliefs are all that we ever deal with. Correct your thinking and your language and you change the world. The pen is truly more powerful than the sword, isn’t it?
Our entire human problem centers around one word, the word “I”. Until that one word is deciphered and understood, we will continue in our rat race forever.
Isn’t it strange that the entire secret of the universe lies in the one word “I” ?
Isn’t it mind-blowing to realize that all human suffering and joy is tied up in the one word “I”.
Isn’t it incredible to even consider that all anxiety arises from the mis-imagination about and mis-use of that one word?
Isn’t it astonishing to think that all of our millions of anxiety-remedies are ineffective because we all assume that we understand what the word “I” means?
Find out what “I” means and your symptoms are done. Your sickness is healed. Your poverty is over. Your relationships are restored. Your fears are gone. Life flows. In the I-word lies hidden all of the secrets of the universe. The n-word and the f-word lose their punch when the meaning of the I-word is discovered.
Finding out what the I-word means is truly a lifelong process because there is no end to “I” While “I” seems to be a word, it is not. “I” is the supreme example of a word that is not a word. “I” is an experience that cannot be contained in a mere word. Once you realize this, all words begin to change their meaning. No word stands for itself. All words represent the infinite or its distortion.
The true “I” is the word behind all words. I represents God. God is the reality behind the word “I” and behind all other words. Quite obviously, there is a false unconscious use of the word “I” and a true conscious use of the word “I”. Therein lies the secret knowledge. I is conscousness.
The first letter in the spiritual alphabet is not “A” but “I”. We talk about the faults of the Me Generation…me, me, me, me. The narcicist acts like there is nothing but me, the self-centered me. All suffering arises from this me-centeredness. So we condemn and try to escape from me-ism. We have thousands of medications to treat me-ism, but do they work?
Stephen Colbert’s comedy hour program is built around his jokes about me-ism. He plays the self-centered me as the joker of the human story. He nails the inconsistencies in everyone who comes on his show. He makes a joke of all of our seriousness and social identities. He challenges and makes fun of the flaws and limitations in every philosophy and belief system.
“Me” is our problem; “I” is the answer. “Me” is always narrowing down; “I” is always expanding out. “Me” is a belief and “I” is not. “Me” is a mere word; “I” is a transcending symbol that is not even a word.
When “Me” becomes “I” you know The Secret and are living it.

Jesus found his real ‘I” and he constantly talked about it. He knew The Secret. I am the resurrection and the life. I am the way. I am the light. I am the truth. I am the good shepherd. I am the bread. I am the son of man. I am the son of God. Who do you say that I am? Was he a narcicist or insane?
He was probably the first man to know the “I” in the fullest and most complete sense. He has been called the most unhypnotized man in the history of the world. His life was thus a miracle. But he insisted that he was not the exception, not a special case, not to be idolized. Only to be copied, only to be followed, only to be joined. He knew the “I’ and he lived it. He set a new pace for humanity. The “Me” could be crucified but the I could not be killed. Paul picked up on it and made it his reality that “me” has to die daily in order that “I” can be born. You and I are no exceptions either.
“Me” has to be let go of for “I” to come alive. If we don’t make Jesus an exceptional “I”, then we don’t have to think that our “me” is an exception either. You are unique but not an exception. Jesus and Paul and Buddha and Martin Luther King and Gandhi and Mother Teresa are not exceptions. They just became “I” in their own unique ways. You too are a hidden “I” , a Buddha, a Christ, in essence and in process. A unique seed waiting to flower. A unique song waiting to be sung. A butterfly in a caterpillar cocoon awaiting re-birth and flight. A unique but common false “me” awakening into unique unstoppable ”I-hood”.
