The Power of Creative Imagination
Eight Agreements about How to Re-create your Future
1. You are an offspring of the infinite source and creator of the universe. Do you agree?
2. This Infinite Creator that we call God, imagined you into existence. Do you agree?
3. Since you are made in the likeness of this Infinite Creator, you also have a powerful creative imagination. Do you agree?
4. You are not always on a daily basis aware of the fact that you are a powerful creative force. Do you agree?
5. You are not fully aware that you have created your present set of circumstances, including what you want and don’t want. Do you agree?
6. Can you agree that your present crisis has happened for a good reason that you aren’t aware of right now?
7. Can you agree that you are willing to look for that reason, hidden in the painfulness of your present dilemma?
8. If you could re-imagine and re-create your circumstances by learning how the power of your imagination works, would you agree to go for that?
Three Kinds of Reasoning
There are three kinds of reason: the reasoning of the mind, the reasoning of the heart and the reasoning of the spirit. We know most about the reasons of the mind, because we rely most of the time on that. We know some things about the reasoning of the heart, because we have had some peak experiences there. We know least about the reasoning of the spirit,
When the reasoning of the mind fails us and the reasoning of the heart has become disillusioning, we can turn to the reasoning of the spirit. This choice may seem strange or miraculous because it is unfamiliar, but we cannot find what we want without going there.
When my client, Warren, found his spiritual reasoning awakening, he was able to say “I am not a black sheep and I don’t have to be a white sheep, and I won’t give up until I find a better choice.” Black sheep and white sheep are just labels or opinions about people who seem to disagree with us. We are all misinformed powerful creators who are not yet familiar with spiritual reasoning.
Sooner or later it becomes evident that the reasoning of the mind and the reasoning of the heart are falling short of what we really want, and we have to consciously develop our dormant power of imagination which we call the reasoning of the spirit. To our delight, we discover that the reasoning of the mind and the reasoning of the heart can then be useful in a different way which does hit the mark.
Once you activate your spiritual reasoning, you begin to see that everyone you meet is just an anxious lover like you are. You realize that many of the ineffective thoughts and communications you have been using in your mental and emotional reasoning were actually prompted by anxiety and judgments. You find out that you don’t really know this person or yourself at the level of spiritual reasoning. “I don’t know” becomes an okay place to be. It shows you are willing to learn. It’s a “let go and let God’ kind of experience. You begin to relax, your mind and heart expand, you begin to see more choices, and your powerful creative imagination begins to wake up. Your old self-limiting pattern no longer runs your life.
As long as our spiritual reasoning is dormant, we continue to tell ourselves the story that something is missing, that we could fail, or that we might be inadequate. This anxiety-ridden story sets us up to become angry victims who have to manipulate and control other people and/or circumstances to get what we want but do not have.
When we begin to awaken to the power of our creative imagination, we see that we are not abandoned, we are not lacking, and we are not trapped. New energy, light and love begin to flow as we learn to use our spiritual reasoning more consistently. Tendencies to be reactive, tired, sick or depressed begin to fall away. An expansive awareness begins to replace our habit-worn assumptions and responses. We think before we speak or act. We begin to take more responsibility for ourselves as we sense our connection to God, to nature and to everyone else. This connectedness has always been there but we did not sense it very often in our story of separateness and lack. Spiritual reasoning and awareness enable us to live in the present instead of the past or future. It begins to dawn on us that nothing is missing in life except awareness. We become like a magnet to which fulfilling experiences are drawn. We begin to realize that what we want is here already or that it just shows up synchronistically.
